At FlipOut Somerset we are seeking an experienced and dynamic Food & Beverage/Cafe Manager to lead our team and oversee daily operations within our cafe, kitchen and Ice Cream Parlour. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring exceptional service quality, maintaining food safety standards, and fostering a welcoming environment for guests. Responsibilities
- Manage daily cafe operations, including overseeing food preparation and service delivery
- Supervise staff, including training, and performance management to ensure high standards of service
- Oversee food safety compliance and ensure adherence to health regulations and hygiene standards, including during our annual auditing
- Coordinate food production processes, ensuring timely delivery
- Assist in menu planning and development
- Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and control costs to optimise operational efficiency
- Lead by example in delivering excellent customer service and resolving guest concerns promptly
- Maintain a clean, organised, and welcoming environment for both staff and guests
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth communication between Cafe, Ice Cream Parlour and Kitchen operations
Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, and kitchen management within a cafe, restaurant or hospitality setting
- Supervising experience with strong team management skills
- Extensive knowledge of food safety standards and regulations
- Ability to lead a team effectively while maintaining high levels of motivation and morale
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Strong leadership qualities with a focus on customer satisfaction and operational excellence
- Experience in food production, serving or hospitality environments is highly desirable
- Barista experience or familiarity with beverage preparation is advantageous
- Good communication skills with the ability to train staff and foster a positive working environment
- Level 3 Food Safety is required, however if completed over 2 years ago we will issue you the course to update the qualification
- Allergen Awareness Qualification is required, however if completed over 2 years ago we will issue you the course to update the qualification
- First Aid Qualification is desirable
About the Role
During peak periods (weekends and school holidays) you will be working directly alongside and managing your team of up to 8 employees at once, spread across roles such as front of house (taking orders, payments, making beverages, serving display fridge items), Ice Cream Parlour (taking orders, serving ice creams, sweets and milkshakes) and the kitchen (food preparation of mainly pizzas, paninis, hot dogs and sandwiches, managing food orders from the till or birthday parties, washing up duties).
During the busiest months of the year we host up to 200 customers on the arena at once, who each bring along family/friends who utilise the cafe, during these periods the role is very fast paced and therefore strong leadership qualities and experience of a fast paced environment will be advantageous.
During weekdays outside of peak periods, you will be working in the cafe area by yourself, around the peak times for orders you will have time to focus on other aspects of the role such as organising paperwork to meet auditing standards, deep cleaning alongside our weekly and monthly cleaning schedules, place orders, stock control, wastage and menu planning and development alongside the General Manager, as well as working along side the Operations Manager to arrange recruitment and training when required and schedule amendments.
You will be working as part of a fairly small management team of a General Manager, Operations Manager, 2 Duty Managers, and 6 Supervisors who’s focus is on the building operations as a whole, with your only focus being the operation of the Food and Beverage department.
Working Hours
The hours available for this role are:
Monday - 09:30 - 17:00 (with a 30 minute break)
Wednesday - 09:30 - 18:30 (with a 30 minute break)
Friday - 09:30 - 17:30 (with a 30 minute break)
Saturday - 09:30 - 15:30 (with a 30 minute break)
Sunday - 09:30 - 17:30 (with a 30 minute break)
This would equate to a 36 hour contract.
