This is NOT a standard employment role.
We are looking for a driven entrepreneur who wants to co-build the UK's leading EV &
electrical training academy network alongside a Tier 1 national contractor.
If you want to build something — not just work somewhere — read on.
ABOUT ECO POWER ENERGY
Eco Power Energy Limited (EPE) is a UK Tier 1 EV charging infrastructure contractor and Independent Connection Provider (ICP), delivering large-scale on-street and commercial EV charging programmes nationally for Charge Point Operators
We are now building out a dedicated Training Academy function to develop the next generation of EV charging engineers, ICP specialists, and site supervisors — and we want a like-minded partner to build it with us.
THE OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking a Training Academy Partnership Director to co-found and build EPE Training Academy — initially delivering accredited courses from our West Midlands base, expanding to Leeds as the second hub. This is a genuine partnership/joint venture structure; we want someone who brings their own expertise, network, and entrepreneurial energy, and who shares in the success they help create.
Course portfolio to be built and delivered (expanding over time):

WHAT YOU WILL BUILD & LEAD
- Design, accredit, and launch the full EPE Training Academy course portfolio across the qualifications above
- Secure centre approval / ATO status with CITB, City & Guilds, IMI, EAL, and relevant awarding organisations
- Source and fit out a suitable training facility in West Midlands (Year 1); establish Leeds as Hub 2 (Year 2)
- Build and manage a team of qualified trainers and assessors as the portfolio grows
- Drive commercial revenue from external delegates (electrical contractors, EV installers, ICP candidates) in addition to EPE's internal workforce
- Develop a pipeline of job-ready technicians to feed EPE's national delivery operations — directly solving our single biggest growth constraint
- Manage training administration, scheduling, compliance, and awarding body relationships
- Work closely with EPE's Head of Operations and Maintenance Manager to align training with live project requirements
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Essential
- Demonstrable experience running or building a training academy, ATO, or accredited training centre in the electrical / construction / EV sector
- Thorough working knowledge of at least four of the eight qualifications in our portfolio — ideally including City & Guilds 2391 and SMSTS/SSSTS
- Understanding of awarding body approval processes (CITB, City & Guilds, IMI, EAL or equivalent)
- Entrepreneurial mindset — you see a gap in the market and want to own a piece of what you build
- Strong commercial awareness; able to build a business case, set fees, and drive revenue from day one
- West Midlands base or genuine willingness to be there full time
Highly Desirable
- Hold (or have held) City & Guilds 2391 qualification personally
- Existing relationships with awarding bodies and/or DNOs
- Experience training ICP or LV/HV candidates
- Previous experience in EV charging, grid connections, or utilities infrastructure
- Network of qualified trainers / assessors you can bring to the partnership
THE PARTNERSHIP STRUCTURE
EPE is open to the right commercial structure for the right person. Options we will discuss include:
- Joint venture entity (EPE + Partner), with equity reflecting contribution
- Director role with base salary + profit share from academy revenue
- Consultancy / franchise arrangement for established training businesses looking for a national anchor client
EPE brings: national contractor status, Large pipeline, internal delegate volume, brand,
capital investment in fit-out, and senior management support.
You bring: training expertise, accreditation know-how, commercial drive, and the ability to
build something from the ground up.
LOCATIONS
Hub 1 — West Midlands
Hub 2 — Leeds
Phase 1 — Launch (2026)
Dedicated facility to be sourced and fitted out as part of the partnership agreement. Excellent access to EPE's national delivery network and Midlands EV programme pipeline.
Phase 2 — Expansion (2027)
Northern hub serving EPE's West Yorkshire contract pipeline and partner ICP panel. Strong demand for SSSTS, SMSTS, and ICP courses in this region.
WHY THIS MATTERS — THE MARKET OPPORTUNITY
The UK has committed to installing hundreds of thousands of EV charging points across the next five years. The single biggest bottleneck is not technology or capital — it is qualified people. The workforce to design, install, connect and maintain this infrastructure simply does not yet exist at scale.
EPE Training Academy will exist to close that gap — and in doing so, generate substantial commercial revenue whilst giving EPE a decisive competitive advantage in talent supply. The person who helps us build this will be building something genuinely important.
Pay: £49,012.03-£122,087.60 per year
