The Guardian is hiring a Product Data Analyst to join the Product & Engineering (P&E) department. The Product Data Analyst will work closely with our product teams to uncover insights and contribute towards a growing test and learn culture within P&E. This role builds understanding of user behaviour across the product experience through rigorous testing and measurement. Working closely with UX Research and other insights functions, you'll turn data into actionable insights that support informed decision-making at scale.
In this role, you will blend hands-on analytical work with strategic sense making and storytelling so you will need to model curiosity, demonstrate an appetite and ability to learn quickly and engage others in a culture of experimentation. About the role

Use SQL and visualisation tools like Tableau or Looker to uncover patterns, apply statistical methods including A/B testing and generate insights.
- Contribute to high quality stakeholder-relevant analysis, maintaining our high standards for analytical rigour.

Present insights impactfully by tailoring messages for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Communicate clearly and confidently with your team and stakeholders, keeping others updated on progress, blockers, and key outcomes.

Inform what sorts of tests should be run, and advocate for building tracking into the product experience to align with broader organisational goals.

About you

Demonstrated experience as a data analyst, ideally with experience working with product teams.

Solid foundational understanding of statistics, including concepts like averages, variance, correlation, and significance testing.

Exposure to translating data into insights that support business decisions, applying statistics to strategic problems.

Experience in SQL and Excel/Google Sheets in a professional context.

Experience with Tableau, or another data visualization tool.

Exposure to cloud data environments (e.g., BigQuery) and data transformation tools (e.g., dbt).

Understanding of or appetite to learn Python for data analysis.

Communicates clearly and concisely, collaborating with a variety of stakeholders.

The UX Research team works in a hybrid environment working 2 days a week from our offices in Kings Cross and 3 days a week remotely.
We believe in salary transparency wherever possible, the salary band for new Product Data Analysts at the Guardian starts at £45,000 per annum.
