Pentaxia Limited is a leading manufacturer of advanced carbon fibre tooling and composite components, supplying customers across the aerospace, defence, automotive, motorsport, and space industries.
Following our recent acquisition by Axvik Group, we are excited to be entering a new phase of growth, therefore we are looking for a Design Engineer to join our Design Team on a full-time, permanent basis working Monday - Thursday, 7:30am - 4:00pm with a 12:30pm finish on Fridays! This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a skilled team.
You will be required to work with the engineering and production teams to design moulds, jigs and fixtures for an array of composite components. Pentaxia manufacture epoxy pattern and composite moulds and well as metallic press tooling for volume manufacture. Work will also involve occasional direct communication with customers to discuss tooling concepts, expectations and requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Design Engineer, your responsibilities will be, but not limited to:
- Designing moulds, tooling, jigs and fixtures using CATIA V5
- Generating engineering drawings, including GD&T, for internal and external manufacture.
- Working with the Engineering Department to generate concept designs at the quotation stage.
- Reviewing engineering drawings and providing feedback to the relevant department.
- Providing technical information and support for manufacturing and inspection processes.
- Liaising closely with customers and colleagues regarding design activities, technical requirements, reviews, specifications and timescales
- Demonstrating effective time management and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Completing any training programmes deemed necessary to support the efficient performance of duties and personal development.
- Maintaining full compliance with all Quality Assurance, Environmental, and Health & Safety policies, procedures and processes.
- Ensuring employees, visitors and contractors observe all health and safety measures, including the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Operating in accordance with all Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental policies and procedures, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of employees, visitors and external contractors.
Undertaking other duties as directed.
To be considered for the role, you’ll require the following essentials:
- Strong working knowledge of Catia V5, with a minimum of 2 years’ experience surfacing using the Generative Shape Design workbench.
- Strong understanding of carbon fibre production methods and underlying theory.
- Strong understanding of CNC techniques for tooling component production.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Good understanding of manufacturing, assembly & inspection processes.
- Understanding of GD&T.
- Understanding of document control requirements.
- Knowledge of ISO9001/AS9100 standards.
- Competent with MS Office applications.
Ideally, the successful candidate will have hands-on experience of composite manufacturing processes, including knowledge of press tooling, together with experience using CATIA V5 Composites Module (or equivalent ply creation software) and a working knowledge of PLM systems, although these are not essential requirements.
