Due to a change in circumstances we are currently able to offer 2 positions.
The Friends of Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital is a charity that runs four shops located within the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and we require 2 people for 4 permanent shifts (each) a week, plus help cover holidays, maternity leave and other sick leave. The job will involve opening/closing a shop at either the beginning or end of the day, leading the volunteers on shift and ensuring that shop is correctly stocked and properly run.
Background in retail or catering is preferred, but training will be given to the successful candidate.
Applicants must be flexible and will be expected to work evening/weekend shifts.
The positions are at least a permanent 24 hours per week (4 x 6 hour shifts).
Currently, the shifts for these position are as follows (but this may change)...
- Mondays: 7:30am - 1:30pm (permanent)
- Tuesdays: 1:30pm - 7:30pm (permanent)
- Thursdays: 1:30pm - 7:30pm (permanent)
- Fridays: 7:30am - 1:30pm (permanent)
and...
- Wednesdays: 1:30pm - 7:30pm (permanent)
- Thursdays: 7:30am - 1:30pm (permanent)
- Fridays: 1:30am - 7:30pm (permanent)
- Saturdays: 7:30am - 1:30pm (permanent)
However, a chance to do extra hours covering other shifts (as required) is regularly available (as/when other staff go off sick or on holiday).
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and manage a team of volunteers during assigned shifts.
- Communicate effectively with team members and main office.
- Ensure excellent customer service by assisting customers and resolving any issues.
- Oversee daily operations, including opening and closing procedures.
- Monitor stock levels and place orders as needed.
- Train new team members/volunteers on company policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organised work place.
- Handle card and cash transactions and ensure accuracy in cash handling.
Experience:
- Previous experience in retail management or a similar leadership role preferred
- Strong time management skills to effectively prioritise tasks.
- Ability to manage and motivate others to achieve smooth running of the shop.
- Well mannered & excellent communication skills to handle customer inquiries or complaints.
