We’re looking for an experienced, confident and genuinely people-focused Bar Manager to take the lead at Little Monster Tap in Chichester.
This isn’t a role for someone who simply wants to run a shift and go home. We’re looking for someone who wants to make the place their own, get to know our customers, create a brilliant atmosphere and take real pride in making the Tap somewhere people want to come back to again and again.
ABOUT YOU
You’ll already have previous bar, pub or hospitality management experience and be comfortable taking responsibility for the day-to-day running of a busy venue.
Just as importantly, you’ll be a natural people person.
You’ll be:
- Confident, friendly and chatty
- Brilliant with customers and able to build relationships with regulars
- Experienced in managing and motivating a small team
- Comfortable taking charge and making decisions
- Organised and reliable
- Proactive — someone who sees what needs doing and gets on with it
- Commercially aware, with an understanding of stock, wastage, staffing and sales
- Happy to get stuck in behind the bar when it’s busy
- Full of ideas and enthusiastic about trying new things
- Someone who understands that atmosphere and great service are just as important as what’s being served

THE ROLE
You’ll take ownership of the day-to-day running of Little Monster Tap, including:
- Leading and motivating the bar team
- Delivering consistently great customer service
- Creating a welcoming, lively atmosphere
- Building relationships with our regular customers and the local community
- Staff rotas and shift management
- Opening and closing the venue
- Stock management, ordering and reducing wastage
- Maintaining excellent standards of cleanliness and presentation
- Cashing up and general bar administration
- Helping to promote events, offers and new ideas
- Supporting live music, quizzes and other events
- Looking for opportunities to increase footfall and sales
- Making sure the Tap always feels like somewhere people want to spend time

We don't want to employ someone and then tell them exactly what to do every minute of the day.
We want someone who will take ownership of the Tap.
If you have an idea for an event, tell us.
If you think we could do something better, tell us.
If customers are asking for something, listen to them.
If you see an opportunity to make the place busier, better or more profitable, we want you to run with it.
You'll have the support of the owners, but you'll also be trusted to use your experience, personality and judgement.
EXPERIENCE
Previous experience in a supervisory or management role within a bar, pub, taproom or similar hospitality environment is essential.
Knowledge of beer and craft beer would be an advantage, but personality, leadership and the ability to create a great customer experience are equally important.
