We're looking for a skilled Garage Mechanic to join our Engineering team in Burneside. If you enjoy diagnosing faults, solving technical challenges, and taking ownership of maintaining a diverse fleet of vehicles and mobile equipment, we'd love to hear from you.
What you'll be doing
As our Garage Mechanic, you'll be responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide range of mobile equipment, road vehicles, trailers and forklift trucks, ensuring they remain safe, reliable and operational.
You will be responsible for;

Carry out planned, preventative and reactive maintenance across our fleet and mobile plant.

Diagnose and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical faults.

Ensure maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

Record maintenance activities and asset history through our maintenance management systems.

Support continuous improvement activities focused on safety, efficiency and equipment reliability.

Work closely with operators, suppliers and contractors to keep our operations running smoothly.

Provide cover for the Garage Chargehand Mechanic when required.
What we're looking for
We're seeking a practical problem-solver with a passion for engineering and vehicle maintenance.
You'll ideally have:

HNC/HND qualification or equivalent relevant experience.

Apprentice-trained background in motor vehicle technology.

Experience maintaining HGVs, trailers, forklifts or mobile plant equipment.

Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
-
Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems.
-
Welding experience using gas or electric welding methods.
-
Good understanding of vehicle legislation, environmental requirements and health & safety standards.

Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workloads effectively.
Additional licences such as Forklift Truck and HGV Class 1 are advantageous.
