Deputy Manager – Children’s Outreach Service
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Deputy Manager to join our growing Children’s Outreach Service.
This is a hybrid 30-hour-per-week role covering our services across Warrington, Cheshire, Wirral, East Cheshire and the wider North West, with the successful candidate also required to support other areas on an ad hoc basis, depending on service needs.
You will work closely with the Manager to support the day-to-day operation of the service, providing leadership to staff and ensuring children and young people receive safe, consistent and high-quality support.
The role requires flexibility. As part of the position, you will participate in on-call arrangements and provide cover for shifts where required, including responding to staffing requirements at short notice.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Manager with the day-to-day operational management of the children’s outreach service.
Provide leadership, guidance and support to outreach staff.
Help ensure children and young people receive safe, consistent and high-quality care.
Support the planning and management of staff rotas.
Identify staffing gaps and assist in arranging appropriate cover.
Provide shift cover when required, including at short notice.
Participate in the on-call rota and respond appropriately to operational issues.
Support staff with safeguarding concerns, incidents and challenging situations.
Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed at all times.
Support the implementation and review of care plans and risk assessments.
Maintain accurate records, case notes and other required documentation.
Liaise professionally with parents, carers, social workers, schools and other agencies.
Support staff induction, supervision and ongoing development.
Monitor standards of practice and address concerns appropriately.
Assist with complaints, investigations and incident management.
Promote a positive culture of safeguarding, accountability and professional practice.
Deputise for the Manager when required.
Travel across Warrington, Cheshire, Wirral, East Cheshire and the wider North West, with occasional travel to other areas on an ad hoc basis.
Support the continued growth and development of the outreach service.
Essential Requirements
Minimum Level 4 qualification in Children’s Care or an equivalent relevant qualification.
Previous experience working with children and young people.
Previous experience in a senior, supervisory or management role within children’s services.
Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection.
Full UK driving licence.
Access to your own vehicle.
Appropriate business-use motor insurance — essential.
Willingness and ability to travel across the service area and to other locations on an ad hoc basis.
Ability to participate in on-call arrangements and provide shift cover when required.
Strong communication, organisation and decision-making skills.
Ability to work independently while also supporting and leading a wider team.

The successful candidate may also be required to support other geographical areas on an ad hoc basis, depending on operational requirements.
A full UK driving licence, access to a vehicle and appropriate business insurance are essential due to the travel requirements of the role.

Pay: £26,520.00 per year
