Job Description: PPA Music Teacher (Temporary Role, Autumn Term 1)

The Role:
We are looking for an energetic, engaging, and passionate part-time Music Teacher to bring music to life for primary school students. The successful candidate will inspire children with fun and interactive lessons, using creative approaches to make music enjoyable and accessible. There may be additional work delivering peripatetic music lessons such as guitar, vocals and piano for the right candidate. Being able to play and teach these instruments would be essential for these lessons.
This is an opportunity for a lively and innovative teacher who can ignite a passion for music in students and create an inclusive, exciting environment where every child feels encouraged to explore their musical potential.
Due to limited public transport links, having access to a car is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
Engaging Curriculum Delivery:
- Teach music to students from Reception to Year 6 with a focus on fun, engagement, and participation.
- Plan and deliver exciting, interactive, and practical music lessons that cater to different learning styles.
- Foster students' skills in listening, composing, performing, and appreciating music.
Inspiring School Community Engagement:
- Lead and host school assemblies, seasonal performances, and showcases.
- Encourage student participation in concerts, competitions, and public performances.
- Work closely with staff to integrate music into the wider school curriculum.
Exciting Extracurricular Activities:
- Develop engaging group performance opportunities to inspire students.
- Support and mentor students in developing their confidence and stage presence.
Innovative Music Education:
- Use technology and music apps to enhance learning and creativity.
- Introduce students to a variety of musical styles, instruments, and cultures.
- Adapt teaching strategies to inspire students of all skill levels.
What We’re Looking For:
Experience & Skills:
- Proven experience in teaching music, preferably in a primary school setting.
- Strong musicianship and proficiency in playing multiple instruments.
- Experience leading musical ensembles, performances, or bands.
- Ability to make lessons fun, engaging, and interactive.
- Strong classroom management skills and ability to motivate students.
- Confidence in using technology for music education, including apps like GarageBand.
- Ability to lead and inspire students in a performance setting.
