We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head Chef and Kitchen Manager to lead our culinary team. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of kitchen operations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality food and exceptional service. This role requires strong leadership, organisational skills, and a passion for culinary excellence. The Head Chef and Kitchen Manager will be responsible for managing food production, maintaining food safety standards, and fostering a positive team environment to deliver memorable dining experiences.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the kitchen & bakery team, ensuring smooth daily operations
- Oversee food preparation and cooking processes to maintain quality standards and consistency
- Manage food production schedules, inventory, and ordering to ensure efficient utilisation of resources
- Implement and uphold strict food safety and hygiene standards in compliance with health regulations
- Develop new menus in collaboration with management, incorporating innovative culinary ideas while respecting budget constraints
- Train and mentor staff to enhance their skills in food preparation, presentation, and service
- Monitor kitchen performance, address any issues promptly, and optimise workflow for maximum productivity
- Coordinate with front-of-house, bakery and vending staff to ensure seamless service delivery during busy periods
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment at all times
Skills
- Proven supervising experience within a professional kitchen environment
- Extensive culinary experience with a strong background in food production and preparation
- Excellent team management skills with the ability to motivate and lead diverse staff members
- Proficiency in cooking techniques across various cuisines and styles
- Sound knowledge of food safety standards and regulations
- Experience in hospitality or restaurant settings with a focus on high-quality service delivery
- Strong leadership qualities combined with organisational skills to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
- Exceptional communication skills to coordinate effectively with team members and management
We are looking to recruit someone who is passionate about food and loves to cook. Individual must be friendly, methodical, hard working and be able to work well and communicate within a small team.
Duties will include preparation of food, cooking of food and assembling meals from our menu, together with cooking and assembling ready meals for our vending machines.
We are a family run business and our staff are an integral part of our success.
Successful applicants will be given the chance of a paid trial shift.
Our busy coffee shop is closed to the public on a Monday, however prep duties require to be done on that day. We also close for two weeks at Christmas and New Year.
