Job Title: SEND Support Worker
Location: Our OFSTED registered setting in Spennymoor, County Durham
Hours: Part-time - all outside school hours, predominantly weekends. There may be some weekday evening hours available, and additional work during school holidays.
Pay: £14.30 per hour for adults 21years and over. Rates differ for younger employees. Hourly rate incudes a holiday pay percentage.

Learning a New Way CIC is a not-for-profit organisation that runs inclusive and engaging activity sessions for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Our aim is to create safe, fun, and supportive environments where children can take part, build confidence, and make friends.
Role Purpose
We are looking for enthusiastic and committed individuals to join our team as SEND Support Workers. You will support children with SEND to engage in a wide range of activities, helping to create a positive, safe, and inclusive environment.
Experience of working with children with SEND is required, but we will also provide training and ongoing support to help you develop your skills further.
Key Responsibilities
- Support children and young people with SEND to engage in games, arts and crafts, sensory play, outdoor activities, and trips.
- Adapt and tailor activities to meet individual needs and abilities.
- Promote inclusion, positive behaviour, and emotional wellbeing.
- Work closely with group leaders and other staff to deliver high-quality sessions.
- Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and risk assessment procedures.
- Contribute to setting up, running, and clearing away activities.
- Build positive and respectful relationships with children, families, and the wider team.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Previous experience working with children and/or young people with SEND.
- Ability to adapt communication and activities to meet individual needs.
- Patience, empathy, and a supportive approach.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice.
Desirable:
- Relevant qualification in childcare, health & social care, or youth work.
- Training in areas such as autism awareness, behaviour support, or Makaton.
- First Aid or safeguarding training.
- Own transport
