Overview
We are seeking a motivated Warehouse Operative with a clear progression pathway to an Engineering role. Responsibilities
- Handling materials efficiently, including loading, unloading, and organising stock
- Operating forklift trucks and other warehouse equipment safely and effectively
- Managing inventory using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) to track stock levels and locations
- Preparing orders through picking and packing items accurately for dispatch
- Managing shipping and receiving processes to ensure timely deliveries
- Stocking shelves and maintaining organised storage areas for easy access and safety compliance
- Conducting quality control checks to ensure products meet company standards
- Assisting with stock rotation and replenishment activities
- Supporting mechanical tasks as part of training towards an engineering role
- Participating in continuous improvement projects aimed at enhancing warehouse operations
Skills
- Proven experience in warehouse operations or logistics environments is desirable
- Proficiency in materials handling equipment, especially forklift operation (certification preferred)
- Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) or similar inventory software
- Strong understanding of shipping & receiving procedures
- Experience with picking & packing processes and stock management
- Mechanical knowledge or interest in engineering principles is advantageous
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team
- Willingness to learn new skills and undertake training towards an engineering career pathway
