Ontic, a leading licensor and manufacturer of complex engineering parts for the global aerospace and defence industries, are now recruiting an Electronics Engineer or Lead Electronics Engineer to join our Engineering team where you'll support us in ensuring the ongoing integrity, performance and compliance of our products across their full lifecycle. This role will be based at our Bishops Cleeve site.
The Role:
As an Electronics Engineer at Ontic, you'll provide technical support across a diverse portfolio of aerospace products, from supporting the introduction of new products into the Ontic portfolio through to in-service support and eventual retirement. Working within a highly regulated environment, you'll help ensure our products continue to meet demanding performance, quality and regulatory requirements.
You'll work closely with Supply Chain, Operations, Quality and our customers to maintain design integrity, providing validated engineering solutions to overcome supply chain challenges or support product improvements. Whether reviewing technical data, implementing engineering changes, investigating technical issues or resolving component obsolescence challenges, you'll play a vital role in keeping our products reliable and compliant as part of Ontic's promise to deliver a lifetime of flight.
As a Lead Electronics Engineer, you'll provide additional technical leadership, approving or implementing engineering changes, leading root cause investigations and delivering corrective actions, and taking a key role in redesign projects. You will have sound engineering judgement, demonstrate pragmatism and will be proactive and comfortable with taking the initiative when necessary
This role offers plenty of variety, with the opportunity to identify and evaluate solutions to supply chain challenges, participate in root cause investigations, support redesign activities and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that deliver real value to both our customers and the business.

You’ll be an experienced Electronics Engineer with a background in digital and/or analogue design or evaluation within a reliability-critical environment.
As a subject matter expert with demonstrable experience in a Lead or senior technical role within design or manufacturing and experience approving design changes and participating in critical design reviews, the Lead Electronics Engineer role offers an exciting opportunity to provide technical leadership, mentor and guide a dedicated team, and play a significant part in driving engineering excellence across the business.
To be successful, you'll bring :
- A degree in Electronics Engineering.
- Experience within a digital and/or analogue electronics design, manufacturing or product support engineering environment, ideally in aerospace or another highly regulated industry.
- Ability to understand schematic diagrams and associated documentation to infer original design intent.
- Strong understanding of design verification and validation principles.
- Experience supporting engineering changes, technical investigations and product improvements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured approach to root cause analysis.
- CAD literacy (Altium & Windchill preferred) alongside knowledge of applicable aerospace or regulated industry standards.
- Exposure to RF design or evaluation would be advantageous, but not essential.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across cross-functional teams.
