We are seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join our High Speed Traffic Management team. The successful applicant will ensure all traffic management schemes are delivered to programme and in full compliance with health and safety legislation and company policies, and oversee all aspects of project delivery across high-speed road networks, including planning, resource allocation, operational execution, CAD Design and external communication.
Responsibilities
- Assist multiple high-speed traffic management projects to completion.
- Ensure all works are planned and delivered in accordance with approved traffic management designs.
- Produce CAD designs in line with company methods and industry requirements.
- Coordinate labour, vehicles, plant, and equipment to meet programme requirements.
- Ensure all works are completed within agreed timescales.
- Ensure all high-speed data back up from My Mobile Worker (or similar system) for completed works is added to associated job file in a timely manner, minimising delay for commercial process.
- Successfully enrol onto the NOAP/NOMS high speed booking portal and deliver road space bookings as per client requests.
- Promote a strong safety-first culture across all projects.
- Ensure permits, and site documentation are completed and briefed.
- Conduct site audits, inspections, and safety reviews.
- Investigate incidents, near misses and non-conformances.
- Ensure all staff hold the relevant training, competency, and accreditation for high-speed works.
- Maintain compliance with company policies, ISO standards, and legal obligations.
- Understand project budgets, costs, and profitability.
- Approve timesheets, supplier invoices, and purchase orders.
- Identify variations, additional works, and commercial opportunities.
- Support pricing and tender submissions where required.
- Attend client meetings and progress reviews.
- Act as the main point of contact for clients, local authorities, and principal contractors.
- Provide regular updates on programme, risks, delays, and progress.
- Resolve client issues quickly and professionally.
- Maintain strong working relationships to support repeat business opportunities.
- Lead supervisors, operatives, and subcontract teams.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and training of project teams.
- Carry out performance review and development planning.
- Ensure adequate resource levels for planned works.
- Promote high standards of behaviour, teamwork, and accountability.
Required Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in traffic management, ideally within high-speed environments.
- Strong knowledge of National Highways standards
- Experience managing motorway schemes.
- Strong people management and leadership skills.
- Excellent planning and problem-solving ability.
- Effective client relationship management.
- Competent in Microsoft Office and project reporting systems.
- Knowledge of CAD designs & high speed TM methodology
