Retail Shop Supervisor
Watkinghams Gift & Home Store – Old Pots Ltd
Part-time or Full-time
We're looking for someone special to join our independent gift shop opposite The Old Post Office Tearoom at the entrance to Bradgate Park in Newtown Linford.
This is not a standard retail role. We're looking for someone who takes pride in creating a beautiful shop, enjoys taking responsibility and can confidently manage the day-to-day running of the store, often working independently.
Ideally, we'd like to recruit either:
- One person working 5 days per week, or
- Two people to share the role across the week.
Although you'll usually be working on your own, you'll have support from our tearoom team just across the road whenever needed.
About the role
You'll be responsible for:
- Opening and closing the shop.
- Delivering outstanding customer service.
- Managing and replenishing stock.
- Creating attractive displays and keeping the shop looking its very best (working within our brand and visual style).
- Processing deliveries and maintaining stock accuracy.
- Programming and updating our EPOS/till system.
- Assisting with online customer enquiries and supporting our digital presence where required.
- Identifying ways to improve the shop and helping drive sales.
We're looking for someone who:
- Is trustworthy, reliable and happy working independently.
- Has excellent common sense and uses their own initiative.
- Is organised and able to prioritise without constant supervision.
- Has good computer skills and is confident learning new systems.
- Has an eye for presentation, detail and visual merchandising.
- Enjoys working in a friendly independent business rather than a large chain.
- Is flexible, practical and happy to turn their hand to whatever needs doing.
- Shares our high standards and understands that consistency matters.
Retail experience would be an advantage, but attitude, organisation and the ability to take ownership are more important than previous experience.
