Support Worker Opportunity – Join a Specialist Care Team Supporting a Young Adult
We are seeking compassionate, dedicated, and highly motivated Support Workers to join a specialist care package for a bright and determined 23-year-old who is due to return home in July after studying at College in Cheltenham.
About the client
The client is a highly intelligent young man living with cerebral palsy (CP). He is non-verbal and uses an electric wheelchair for mobility. The client communicates effectively using his eye-gaze iPad and enjoys meaningful interaction with those around him. He requires support with PEG feeding and all aspects of personal care.
Home Environment
The client lives with his parents in a fully adapted family home, which includes excellent facilities such as a hydrotherapy pool. His parents are very involved in his care and are passionate about supporting the client to live as independently as possible.
About the Role
This is a unique opportunity to be part of a dedicated care team delivering high-quality, person-centred support. Responsibilities will include:
- Supporting with personal care and daily living activities
- Managing PEG feeding
- Facilitating communication using assistive technology
- Promoting independence and engagement in daily life
- Working collaboratively with family and the wider care team
The working hours:
Monday - Sunday 08:00 - 22:00
Two sleeping night shifts per week arranged with notice.
Training & Transition
To ensure a smooth transition home in July, team members will be required to:
- Travel to Cheltenham to shadow the client in his current setting
- Stay in arranged accommodation during shadowing periods
- Build a strong rapport with the client to ensure he feels comfortable and supported
About You
We are looking for individuals who:
- Have experience in complex care (preferred but not essential with the right attitude)
- Demonstrate excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Are committed to delivering the highest standards of care
- Are reliable, proactive, and compassionate
- A full UK driving license
- Prior experience with hoists and moving and handling practices
