LaunchPad Sports is launching a new network of junior basketball and netball clubs across West Yorkshire in September 2026, and we are looking for enthusiastic Basketball Coaches to become part of the programme.
Our new community teams will provide weekly training, competitive fixtures, festivals and tournaments for children in Years 3–6, with teams competing across three regional leagues.
The Role
Basketball sessions will take place on Saturday afternoons, working with children from Years 3–6.
Coaches will be responsible for delivering fun, engaging basketball sessions and helping children develop their skills, confidence and understanding of the game.
The programme is built around our Fun First approach. We want children active, enjoying themselves and looking forward to coming back each week.
The role will include:
- Delivering weekly basketball training sessions
- Coaching children across Years 3–6
- Leading games, challenges and small sided activities
- Preparing players for fixtures and tournaments
- Coaching teams during competitive matches
- Creating a positive and inclusive environment
- Supporting children who may be completely new to basketball
- Representing LaunchPad and the local community team
Who We're Looking For
We are interested in experienced basketball coaches, players looking to move into coaching, PE teachers, sports coaches and people with a strong basketball background.
Coaching qualifications are desirable, but we are equally interested in people with the right experience, personality and enthusiasm to work with children.
You should be:
- Confident working with primary school aged children
- Enthusiastic about basketball
- Reliable and available on Saturday afternoons
- Positive, energetic and approachable
- Comfortable leading groups and matches
- Committed to creating an enjoyable environment for children of all abilities
Successful applicants will be required to meet our safeguarding requirements, including an Enhanced DBS check.
More Than a Saturday Job
We are building a large community basketball programme across West Yorkshire, so there will be opportunities for coaches to take on additional sessions, teams, tournaments, holiday camps and other work across LaunchPad Sports.
