Job Overview
We are seeking a vigilant and professional Security Officer to ensure the safety and security of our shopping centre, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate will be responsible for monitoring security systems, patrolling designated areas, and responding promptly to incidents. This role is vital in maintaining a safe environment and preventing loss or damage.
Duties
- 28 hours Three over seven
- CCTV & DS or SG required
- Conduct regular patrols of the facility to deter unauthorized access and identify potential hazards
- Respond swiftly to alarms, incidents, or emergencies, including medical situations requiring first aid or CPR
- Enforce security policies and procedures to prevent theft, vandalism, or other criminal activities
- Maintain detailed incident reports and communicate effectively with law enforcement or emergency services when necessary
- Manage conflict situations with professionalism and conflict management skills to de-escalate tensions
- Conduct loss prevention activities by observing suspicious behavior and intervening as needed
- Assist visitors and staff by providing directions or information while maintaining a secure environment
Qualifications
- Prior experience in law enforcement, military service, or security roles preferred
- Certifications in first aid and CPR are highly desirable
- Knowledge of surveillance systems such as CCTV and loss prevention techniques
- Strong conflict management skills with the ability to handle tense situations calmly and effectively
- Ability to pass background checks and any required licensing or certification processes which includes passing a 5 year background check.
- Excellent observational skills with attention to detail in monitoring activities
- Ability to remain alert during long shifts and work flexible hours as needed
- Strong command of written and spoken English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
