Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled professional to join our team as a Butcher. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food production and possess a strong understanding of food safety standards. This role involves preparing high-quality cuts in a busy environment, ensuring consistency and excellence.
We have a 3 bedroom cottage with a large garden available for a non smoker if required.
Duties
- Prepare and cut a variety of carcasses - beef, pork, lamb/ mutton and poultry according to established standards
- Assist with food presentation to ensure visual appeal
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the butchery area, including workstations and equipment
- Follow strict food safety and hygiene protocols at all times
- Ensure all food preparation meets health and safety regulations
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations during service periods
- Assist in inventory management, including stock rotation and ordering supplies when necessary
- Work a farmers market once every two months on a Saturday morning
- Collection from the abattoir
- Deliveries to customers on a Friday.
Skills
- Proven experience in butchery, ideally within similar environment
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
- Experience in food preparation, including butchery and basic cooking techniques
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Previous butchery experience is highly desirable, with an emphasis on attention to detail and consistency in food quality
Pay: £24,420.00-£30,000.00 per year
