Were now looking for a Quality Assurance & Health and Safety Advisor to join our team and play a key role in keeping our people safe, our processes compliant, and our standards high.
The Role
The QA & H&S Advisor plays a pivotal role in maintaining high standards of quality, regulatory compliance, and health and safety across the organisation. This is a broad, cross-functional role that combines pharmaceutical quality assurance with proactive health and safety management, information governance, and support for data-driven decision-making. Youll work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to embed a strong compliance and safety culture throughout the business.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Maintain and support core QA processes including document control, CAPA tracking, internal and external audit coordination, complaint and deviation investigation, and change control oversight
- Conduct and document CAPAs for IT-related incidents, including root cause analysis, corrective actions, and follow-up reporting
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, UK GDPR, MHRA/GPhC pharmaceutical regulations, and ISO 27001
- Develop, review, and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and policies, particularly those relating to IT and information security
- Analyse quality trends and performance data to identify systemic issues and improvement opportunities
- Prepare and present reports on QA metrics, audit outcomes, and improvement plans to internal stakeholders
- Deliver training and support to staff on QA processes, compliance requirements, and continuous improvement
- Collaborate across departments to embed quality standards into day-to-day operational workflows
Health & Safety
- Act as the primary point of contact for health and safety across the organisation
- Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies, procedures, and risk assessments in line with UK legislation (Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, COSHH, RIDDOR, DSE, and related regulations)
- Conduct and review workplace risk assessments including manual handling, COSHH, fire safety, and DSE assessments
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and accidents completing RIDDOR reporting where required and identifying root causes and preventive actions
- Coordinate and maintain records for statutory compliance, including fire safety checks, equipment inspections, and first aid provision
- Deliver H&S inductions and ongoing training to staff, ensuring awareness of responsibilities and safe working practices
- Liaise with external bodies such as the HSE, local authorities, and occupational health providers where required
- Support the Senior Leadership Team in developing a positive safety culture across the organisation
- Maintain the organisations H&S documentation, audit schedule, and management system in line with ISO 45001/OHSAS 18001 standards
- Monitor and report on H&S performance metrics, trends, and legislative changes
Cyber Security & Information Governance
- Coordinate and maintain NHS Secure Email Standard registration and accreditation
- Lead responses to client cyber security assessments, Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), and GDPR compliance reviews
- Support the implementation and ongoing adherence to ISO 27001 standards
- Assist in managing information governance documentation and risk registers
- Liaise with IT, the DPO, and compliance teams to ensure secure data handling practices
Data & Analytics Support
- Act as a Data Champion, working closely with the Head of Data & Analytics to promote data quality, integrity, and literacy across the business
- Support the development and maintenance of Power BI dashboards relating to quality, compliance, and H&S performance
- Assist with data collection, validation, and reporting processes across quality and H&S domains
What Were Looking For
Experience & Knowledge
- Proven experience in a Quality Assurance role within a regulated environment, preferably pharmaceutical or healthcare
- Demonstrable experience in a health and safety advisory capacity, including risk assessment, incident investigation, and policy development
- Understanding of regulatory frameworks including ISO 9001, ISO 45001/OHSAS 18001, ISO 27001, MHRA, GPhC, and UK GDPR
- Experience conducting CAPAs for operational, IT, or H&S-related incidents
- Familiarity with NHS secure email standards, cyber security assessments, and DPIA processes
- Experience developing SOPs, policies, and training materials
Skills & Attributes
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) essential
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent desirable
- Proficiency in Power BI or similar data visualisation tools desirable
- Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Clear, confident communicator across all levels of the organisation
- Able to manage competing priorities and work collaboratively across departments
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach with a genuine commitment to continuous improvement
