Founded in 1998, the company also run a specialist tobacconist on the Royal Mile The Cigar Box and in 2011 opened two specialist Drinks retail shops in Edinburgh and Pitlochry Drinkmonger with the vision to provide the most comprehensive range of quality alcohol products in Scotland.
Along with their online business through www.royalmilewhiskies.com and www.drinkmonger.com, the company have also developed a wholesale business, supplying the on-trade across Scotland and beyond.
The Role:
The Operations Assistant will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of goods within our warehouse facility. This position suits individuals who are detail-oriented, organised, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
The Operations Assistant position will report to the Operations Manager.
Responsibilities:
Inventory:

Assist with receiving, unpacking, and inspecting incoming deliveries.

Accurately record and update inventory levels using the company stock management system.

Organise and maintain inventory storage areas to ensure efficient space utilisation and easy accessibility.

Help load and unload delivery vehicles as needed.

Operate forklifts or pallet trucks in accordance with H&S requirements.
Fulfilment:

Assist in processing, picking, packing, and preparing orders for shipment or delivery according to established procedures.

Ensure that orders are fulfilled accurately and in a timely manner to meet customer requirements and minimise stock discrepancies.

Help load courier vehicles as needed.

Record shipment figures.
Logistics:

Safely operate a delivery van to transport goods to designated locations, including company premises, residential addresses, businesses, and other delivery points.

Liaise with the logistics team to plan delivery routes efficiently to minimise time and fuel consumption while ensuring timely deliveries.

Load and unload goods from the delivery van, ensuring proper handling and secure placement of items.

Assisting fulfilment staff in picking and packing trade and retail customer orders and ensuring accuracy with every delivery.
Customer Service:

Provide friendly and professional customer service during deliveries, including greeting customers, confirming delivery details, and obtaining signatures for receipt of goods.

Address customer inquiries and concerns in a courteous and timely manner, escalating issues to management when necessary.
Vehicle Maintenance:

Perform routine pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the delivery van, checking for mechanical issues, safety hazards, and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Report any vehicle maintenance or repair needs to the Warehouse management team and ensure that necessary maintenance tasks are completed promptly.
Compliance and Safety:

Adhere to all traffic laws, regulations, and company policies while operating the delivery van.

Maintain a clean driving record and comply with all licensing requirements.

Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure the safe handling and transport of goods, including proper loading and securing of cargo.
Documentation and Recordkeeping:

Maintain accurate records of delivery activities, including delivery logs, mileage reports, and customer receipts.

Complete required paperwork and documentation for each delivery, including invoices (where required), delivery confirmations, and return authorisations.
General:
Warehouse Maintenance:

Keep warehouse clean, organised, and free of clutter to maintain a safe working environment.

Perform routine maintenance tasks, as directed by Operations management and supervisors.

Report any maintenance or safety issues to the Operations supervisors or management team promptly.

Maintain company vehicles clean and in good working condition and report any issues to the Operations management team.
Assistance in Operations:

Provide support to other Operations assistants and supervisors as directed.
-
Assist in conducting inventory counts, and periodic stock audits.

Collaborate with team members to optimize workflows and improve operational efficiency.
Additional Info, Salary, and Benefits
There is opportunity for Full-time, Part-time, Permanent and Temporary positions with a starting hourly rate of £13.45
The working week comprises of 24, 32 or 40 hours, some weekend work may be required during key trading periods.
Our operating hours are 8:30 to 17:00, Monday to Friday.
