Pembroke & Bull Contracts is a growing painting and decorating contractor based in East Tilbury, Essex. As we've grown, we're looking for an experienced, detail-focused bookkeeper to join us one day a week in the office, working alongside our administrator to keep our finances accurate and up to date.
This is a great opportunity for a capable bookkeeper who enjoys hands-on, practical work and wants flexible, local, part-time hours.
What you'll be doing:
- Recording and reconciling supplier invoices, sales, and general expenditure on a weekly basis
- Supporting project-level profit & loss tracking, including tracking and managing retentions, to help us understand margins on individual jobs
- Working alongside — and helping upskill — our office administrator in day-to-day bookkeeping tasks, so more routine processing can be handled confidently in-house over time
- Helping keep our books clean, accurate, and audit-ready
What we're looking for:
- Solid bookkeeping experience (AAT qualified or equivalent practical experience)
- Essential: bookkeeping experience within the construction industry, including handling retentions
- Confident working in QuickBooks
- Comfortable working independently and explaining processes clearly to a colleague you'll be mentoring
- Organised and accurate, with an understanding of how costs and margins work on individual jobs/projects
- Able to commute to our East Tilbury office one day a week
