The Role
UK Leading fencing contractor looking to recruit a HGV Class 1 Driver to be based out of our Battle location, covering large areas of the country delivering our goods. This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to undertake a crucial role within our fast-growing & progressive business. This is a rewarding and progressive role suited to an energised and motivated individual. This specific role will be based mostly in a 7.5t Lorry however we do operate up to a 32t HGV and the perfect candidate will be capable and confident in driving / operating up to this size at anytime required.
- Occasional over nights in the lorry may be required

Responsibilities
- Keeping full and accurate records of all hours using digital tacho / wax charts or manual records along with completion of all delivery / collection documents as required
- Daily pre–use vehicle checks for mechanical and safety related issues and preventative maintenance (i.e., top ups where required for all fluid levels); reporting damage / defects in written and verbal format when noted.
- Supervise the safe and legal loading and unloading of the vehicle and that the load matches the delivery documents before departure. Expect multiple drops and collections / routes every day.
- Ensure goods are safely un/loaded & secured and delivered in a safe, courteous, and professional manner at all times. This role can be physically demanding; so, ensure safe Manual handling is maintained at all times.
- Checking goods / products off with the customer/site contact wherever able and obtain clear signature of satisfaction.
- Keep the vehicle and all related equipment in good, safe working order; clean and tidy.
- At all times drive vehicles safely, efficiently and in accordance with the law.
- Report all incidents and accidents as soon as safe to do so.
- Take the quickest, most appropriate safe and legal route for the vehicle to each destination to achieve delivery schedules.
- Provide excellent customer service. Act in a calm and professional manner at all times; raising any concerns from customers at the earliest possible opportunity.
- Wear and maintain all issued / required Personal Protective Equipment / Uniform to ensure a clean and tidy image of the business is always portrayed.
- Provide support in the yard / depot for colleagues as required.
- Be flexible and help with other duties as required
- Always adhere to all company policies and procedures, including Health & Safety.
Qualifications & Skills
- Relevant Category licence with current driver C.P.C. & Digi-tach cards.
- Minimal requirement of CSCS card
- Hiab ticket
- Willing to undergo extra training & qualifications
- Patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations
- To be thorough and pay attention to detail
- Customer service skills
- The ability to work well with others & be a ‘team player’
- Class 2 will be considered
- Ideally hold a valid SEQOHs accredited Safety Critical Medical
