Are you the kind of person who sees beyond behaviour and understands that every child deserves to feel safe, valued and understood?
We are looking for caring, resilient and committed Residential Support Workers to join our team and make a lasting difference to the lives of children living in our therapeutic children's home.
One of the children currently living in our home has Global Developmental Delay and learning disabilities alongside emotional and behavioural needs. This young person requires adults who can provide structure, consistency and reassurance, understand sensory needs, support communication and emotional regulation, and remain calm and nurturing when anxiety or overwhelm presents through behaviour.
The successful candidate will understand that what may appear as challenging behaviour is often a child's way of communicating distress, uncertainty or unmet need. You will be confident in using therapeutic approaches, visual routines, preparation for transitions and co-regulation strategies to help children feel safe and supported. You will also be comfortable supporting personal care, daily living skills and independence development with dignity and sensitivity.
Whilst this role will involve supporting children with a range of emotional and behavioural needs, we are particularly interested in applicants who have experience of autism, learning disabilities, developmental delay, trauma-informed practice or therapeutic approaches to care. Knowledge of PACE, Positive Behaviour Support, attachment theory or sensory regulation strategies would be advantageous, although full training and ongoing support will be provided.
As a Residential Support Worker, you will build meaningful relationships with children, support them through everyday experiences, advocate for their needs and help them achieve positive outcomes. Most importantly, you will be the consistent adult who remains alongside a child through both their successes and their struggles.
We are looking for people who are warm, patient, emotionally resilient and passionate about helping children thrive. If you believe that relationships change lives and that every child deserves adults who will not give up on them, we would love to hear from you.
The relationship is the intervention.
