Job Summary
Available on a live-in basis, we are seeking a dedicated and efficient Kitchen Porter to join our team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and organisation of our kitchen environment, ensuring smooth daily operations. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience within the hospitality industry, particularly in a fast-paced restaurant or hotel setting. The Kitchen Porter will support chefs and kitchen staff by managing cleaning duties, assisting with food preparation, and ensuring health and safety standards are upheld.
Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitise all kitchen equipment, utensils, and surfaces to maintain hygiene standards
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks as directed by senior kitchen staff
- Support the organisation of storage areas, including stock rotation and inventory management
- Dispose of waste responsibly and ensure the kitchen remains tidy throughout service hours
- Help with loading and unloading deliveries, ensuring proper storage of ingredients and supplies
- Maintain cleanliness in communal areas such as dishwashing stations and staff changing rooms
- Follow health and safety regulations at all times to prevent accidents or contamination
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel, or hospitality environment is desirable but not essential
- Knowledge of food preparation, cooking, or culinary techniques is advantageous
- Experience serving customers or working within a hospitality setting is beneficial
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks efficiently
- Ability to work well as part of a team in a busy environment
- Good communication skills and a positive attitude towards learning new skills
- Flexibility to work shifts as required, including evenings or weekends if necessary
