O.R.P Surveillance Ltd, a small company based near Welshpool, design, install and maintain complex CCTV surveillance and alarm systems for industrial, commercial, and agricultural properties. We are looking for a person to work closely with the owner, looking after and installing these systems, mostly on farming sites.
The Role:
We are looking for someone who is responsible, hard-working, practical, technology-savvy, and able to work well within our tiny team.
This role will best suit someone who has a keen interest in technology, but who also prefers the practical side of installing equipment, rather than an office based role.
The role is on the road – each day you will visit a different site, spread across Shropshire and its surrounding counties. Although our geographical area covers sites within a two hour drive, driving is still an integral part of the role. Being experienced and comfortable with driving, or willing to become so, is therefore important.
The sites you will work on are varied, some of them require additional levels of cleanliness – for biosecurity sites and on sites producing food products – this can include wearing additional PPE. Other sites can be mucky – especially in the winter months – so being someone who doesn’t mind getting their hands dirty, but who can equally keep their vans, their appearance, and their equipment clean and tidy, is important.
You will initially be employed in the capacity of an installation engineer, learning to install complex digital, HD and IP CCTV systems as well as smart alarm systems; Access Control Systems; wireless network links and WiFi; two-way radio systems; fibre optics; livestock monitoring systems; and production process & H&S systems.
A mobile phone, laptop, tools, uniform, and PPE will be provided. Whilst training is ongoing, you will commute to Welshpool to join an experienced engineer in going to sites located around the West Midlands and Mid Wales.
You will be required to have good time management; liaise with customers; take stock checks when required and maintain the tidiness and cleanliness of your van.
Once fully trained, the role will require you going from your home each day to different sites, using a company van (fuel included). Living near Welshpool would be an advantage, as you will be required to visit our home office base a few times each week. Having good communication is vital – with customers, with the owner, and with the office staff.
This is a really good opportunity for a driven, hard-working person who wants a long-term role, where they will work to becoming more than a company employee.
Essential Criteria:
You will:
- be proficient using power tools, hand tools, and ladders;
- have a good understanding of Health & Safety;
- ideally, you will have cabling installation experience;
- work efficiently and tidily;
- be computer literate, and have an understanding of computer networks;
- have a professional attitude and good communication skills, be adaptive, fast-learning, and able to work using your own initiative;
- hold a full UK driving licence, or be working towards getting one;
- work well both in a team and alone.
The successful candidate will be subject to a DBS check.
The role is physically demanding, and will involve working at height and restricted access work.
The role involves working on farming sites.
Hours and Wages:
The successful candidate will initially pass a 6 month probationary period before being offered a permanent position.
This role is for a full time position, with standard hours being 8am until 5pm, Monday to Friday. There may be weekend, early morning and evening work, and therefore some degree of flexible working hours are required.
