Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Dispenser to join our healthcare team. This role involves accurately dispensing medications, providing excellent patient care, and supporting the pharmacy's daily operations. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of pharmacy procedures and a commitment to ensuring patient safety and satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Dispense prescribed medications accurately in accordance with prescriptions and pharmacy protocols
- Assist pharmacists in preparing and organising medication orders for patients
- Provide guidance to patients regarding medication usage, potential side effects, and storage instructions
- Maintain precise records of dispensed medications and update patient files accordingly
- Support inventory management by stock checking, ordering supplies, and ensuring medication safety standards are upheld
- Ensure compliance with legal and safety regulations related to medication handling and storage
- Offer compassionate patient care by answering queries and providing support during pharmacy visits
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes
Skills
- NVQ2 dispensing qualification or equivalent
- Proven experience as a pharmacy dispenser
- Knowledge of medication administration procedures and pharmacy software systems
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail to prevent dispensing errors
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare team members
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining accuracy
- Compassionate approach to patient care with a focus on confidentiality and professionalism
- Familiarity with legal requirements related to medication handling and pharmacy operations
