Are you ready for the next step in your career?
Take this opportunity to join Redwood and play a critical role in the continued success and growth of our business.
Your opportunity to flourish — as we grow, you grow.
We’re looking for a proactive, organised and commercially minded person to join our Sales & Marketing team.
This is an opportunity to become a key part of a growing family business, working directly alongside our Business Development team helping us deliver the level of customer service, follow-up and organisation that sets Redwood apart.
You’ll have genuine responsibility, plenty of variety and the opportunity to develop your role as the business continues to grow.
Why Redwood?
- Your opportunity to flourish — as the business grows, we want our people to grow with it.
- Make a genuine impact — this is a role where your contribution will be visible and valued.
- Work closely with decision-makers — you’ll work directly with our Business Development team.
- Be part of a collaborative team — we’re a growing family business where people work together and take ownership.
- Competitive salary and benefits package
- Working hours with flexibility to suit the right candidate
What is the role?
The purpose of this position is simple:
To keep the commercial side of Redwood organised, responsive and moving forward.
You’ll work alongside our Business Development team, taking ownership of much of the day-to-day sales administration, customer follow-up, CRM management and marketing coordination.
By doing that well, you’ll enable our Business Development team to spend more time where it matters most — talking to customers, visiting businesses and developing new opportunities.
This isn't a traditional sales administration role where you spend your day processing orders.
At Redwood, our Sales & Marketing team owns the customer relationship up to the point an order is placed. From there, our Client Delivery team takes responsibility for processing, despatch and delivery.
That means your focus stays firmly on customers, opportunities and growth.
What you'll be doing
Your responsibilities will include:
- Answering incoming customer calls and enquiries
- Taking ownership of new sales enquiries and making sure they are followed up
- Preparing and issuing customer quotations
- Following up quotations, samples, trials and opportunities
- Supporting account management across our existing customer base
- Keeping in regular contact with customers and prospects
- Preparing information ahead of customer visits and following up actions afterwards
- Taking customer orders and accurately handing them across to Client Delivery
- Maintaining and developing our Pipedrive CRM
- Making sure every live opportunity has a clear next action
- Helping identify customers with further growth potential
- Spotting customers whose purchasing activity may be declining
- Supporting prospecting and new-business activity
- Coordinating sales and marketing campaigns
- Working with our external marketing agency to ensure they have the content, photographs and information they need
- Helping organise samples, product literature and sales materials
- Keeping actions moving so opportunities don't get forgotten or allowed to drift
You'll have ownership
One of the most important parts of this role is ownership.
If a customer contacts Redwood, we want them to feel that somebody has taken responsibility.
You won't be expected to know the answer to every technical question immediately.
What we will expect is that you find the answer and get back to the customer rather than simply passing them from one person to another.
The same applies internally.
If something needs doing, we want someone who notices it, takes responsibility for it and sees it through.
You'll become the heartbeat of our CRM
Pipedrive is central to how we manage our customers and new-business opportunities.
You'll play a major role in making sure:
- Every customer and prospect is recorded
- Accounts are correctly categorised and graded
- Opportunities are kept up to date
- Follow-ups happen when they should
- Every live opportunity has a next action
- Nothing disappears because somebody forgot to chase it
We're not looking for someone who simply enters data.
We want someone who starts to understand what the information is telling us — which customers have potential, which opportunities need attention and which accounts may be starting to drift.
Marketing
You'll also play an important role in keeping our marketing activity moving.
We work with an external marketing agency, but great marketing needs input from inside Redwood.
You'll help provide them with customer stories, photographs, product information, updates and ideas.
You'll also have the confidence to chase people internally — including your own manager — when something has been promised but hasn't been supplied.
Who are we looking for?
You could already be working in sales support, customer service, account management, marketing support or another commercial office role and be ready for your next step.
More important than your current job title is how you approach your work.
You'll probably describe yourself as:
- Proactive
- Highly organised
- Confident speaking with customers
- Naturally positive and helpful
- Persistent with follow-ups
- Comfortable juggling different priorities
- Accurate and detail-conscious
- Commercially aware
- Comfortable using CRM and business systems
- Someone who enjoys getting things completed
- Confident enough to speak up when something needs attention
- Keen to learn and develop
You don't need to know everything about wood coatings, adhesives or our industry before you start.
We'll teach you that.
What is much harder to teach is drive, ownership and a genuine desire to do a great job for customers.
What does success look like?
Within your first six months, we'd expect you to have become an important part of the commercial team.
Our customers and prospects will be accurately represented within Pipedrive.
Quotes and opportunities will be consistently followed up.
Marketing actions will happen when they are supposed to.
Customers will receive fast, professional responses.
And our Sales Director will be spending significantly more time speaking to and visiting customers because you've taken ownership of the activity that previously kept him in the office.
That's the impact this role can have.
