The Company: Chances has been providing care to children for over 20 years. We are currently looking for residential support workers and Senior support Workers in Gloucestershire, who are passionate about child focused care. Our most recent Ofsted rating is outstanding. We provide neurodivergent therapeutic residential care to children aged 8 to 18 male to female who have suffered early trauma loss, many have received clinical diagnoses. Such as developmental trauma, Reactive attachment conditions, anxiety, ADD, Autism, PDA, tourettes, ODD, PTSD. We are looking for someone to join our care team who genuinely wants to provide care and support to make a different in the young people’s life.
We provide a safe and secure therapeutic environment in which the child/ young person is supported to develop secure attachments, thrive and achieve their full potential.
Chances endeavours to meet the needs of the children and young people who have led troubled or traumatic lives, during a period whereby they may be accommodated or require outreach support. We believe that the individual is central and our main focus. Their voice is crucial to how we continue to evolve out service and practice.
Job Summary and Duties
Chances are looking for a full-time therapeutic residential support worker to work individually and as part of a team to support young people in their day to day lives. The ideal candidate will have experience of working with vulnerable children, but this is not essential, as full training will be provided. Working as a residential support worker you will join an established experienced care team. This position focuses on therapeutic intervention within a therapeutic home environment and we work alongside in house psychotherapiste consult regularly with the child, young person psychiatrist.
You will assist in the creating and maintaining a positive, stimulating and nurturing environment for young people and meet their emotional, physical and psychological needs. Positively promoting the principles of an ordinary life. Be a positive role model for children and young people and encourage them to develop meaningful healthy relationships and attachments. You will also endeavour to develop anti-oppressive partnerships with individuals and their families to empower them to make choices about the tailor-made packages of care they require
As a member of the care team you will ensure that delegated responsibilities and the day to day operation of the home are carried out in accordance with Chances policies and procedures and instructions, and within Registration and Inspections requirements; clear and consistent structures and scaffolding are in place to create safety for children and young people, work alongside therapists to enable effective integration of care and therapy
The role is offered on a full-time basis. The hours are 40 hours a week with 2 sleeps ins including evenings and weekends.
Requirements
* Will consider people will no child care experience but have relatable transferable skills in
- Willing to work towards NVQ level 3 In residential childcare
- ·Have the flexibility and willingness to work shifts, including weekends be able to undertake 2 sleep in duties per week within reasonable bounds commensurate with the needs of children and young people.
- Have an empathic, caring nature to support vulnerable young children.
- Be active and support the children and young people activities and leisure pursuits.
- Show initiative and be able to work both independently and part of a team to sure all the children/ young people heath needs can be meet.
- Hold a Full UK driving Licence.
