Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Control Engineer specialising in turbines to join our dynamic engineering team. This role involves leading system design, troubleshooting, and optimisation of control systems for turbine applications. Responsibilities
This is a hands-on, high-impact role where you will:
- Lead the design, development, and realisation of control systems for turbine operations, ensuring optimal performance and safety standards.
- Conduct root cause analysis on complex control issues, implementing effective solutions to minimise downtime and improve system reliability.
- Utilise simulation tools like Simulink and MATLAB to model system behaviour and validate control algorithms prior to deployment.
- Analyse electrical schematics and mechanical designs to ensure seamless integration of control components with turbine hardware.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimise surface mount technology (SMT) assembly processes and firmware development for control modules.
- Perform debugging, soldering, and testing of electronic circuits; ensure adherence to quality standards in surface mount technology (SMT) assembly.
- Assist in the realisation of system design documentation including CAD drawings, schematics, and technical reports.
- Stay abreast of technological advancements in electrical engineering, mechanical systems, and automation relevant to turbine control systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline with substantial experience in control systems engineering.
- Proven expertise in System on Chip (SoC) development, root cause analysis, and troubleshooting complex electrical or mechanical issues.
- Proficiency with CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation or SolidWorks; experience creating detailed schematics is essential.
- Extensive knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs), ARM microcontrollers, signal processing techniques and debugging methodologies.
- Experience with electrical system design including schematics creation and system integration for turbines or similar machinery.
- Mechanical knowledge relevant to turbine systems including surface mount technology (SMT), mechanical assembly processes and system optimisation.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings using CAD tools such as Revit or MicroStation; experience with Revit is advantageous.
- Strong analytical skills with an emphasis on root cause analysis and problem-solving within complex control environments.
