Job Summary
We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Grounds Maintenance Operative to join our grounds maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out a range of routine grounds maintenance and horticultural duties across commercial, residential and public-sector sites.
You will work as part of a professional team, maintaining outdoor spaces to a high standard while ensuring that all work is completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with company procedures.
Daily Responsibilities Include
- Grass cutting using pedestrian and ride-on mowers.
- Strimming and edging grass areas.
- Hedge trimming and pruning.
- Shrub and plant maintenance.
- Weeding, planting and general horticultural duties.
- Leaf clearance and seasonal grounds maintenance.
- Litter picking and general site tidying.
- Removal of green waste and other maintenance debris.
- Maintaining flower beds, borders and planted areas.
- Basic tree and shrub maintenance within the scope of the role.
- Use of hand tools, power tools and grounds maintenance machinery.
- Keeping tools, machinery and vehicles clean and in good working order.
- Reporting damaged equipment, hazards or defects to the relevant supervisor.
- Working safely and following company health and safety procedures.
- Maintaining professional standards when working on client sites.
- Communicating politely and professionally with clients, members of the public and colleagues.
- Completing work to agreed schedules and company quality standards.
- Carrying out other reasonable grounds maintenance duties as required
Experience/Qualifications
- PA1 and PA6 pesticide certification (Level 2 Award in the Safe Use of Pesticides)
- Driving licence is preferred but not essential
- Previous experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, gardening or a similar outdoor role.
- Good knowledge of standard grounds maintenance practices.
- Experience using mowers, strimmers, hedge cutters and other grounds maintenance equipment.
- The ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- A good level of physical fitness, as the role involves manual work and periods of standing, walking and lifting.
- Good attention to detail and pride in the quality of their work.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good timekeeping and reliability.
- A positive and professional attitude.
- Good communication skills.
- A commitment to working safely and following instructions.

Pay: £27,000.00-£29,500.00 per year
