Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Bank Practice Nurse to join our healthcare team on a flexible basis. The successful candidate will provide high-quality patient care within a hybrid setting, supporting the delivery of essential medical services. Duties
- To work on the Roving Health Units, delivering vaccinations to the local populations.
- Cytology
- Working within GP practices to support their vaccination campaigns in areas of deprivation and health inequalities.
- Engage with the General Public to raise awareness around vaccinations and health.
- Follow agreed policies and protocols, refer to the senior nurse or Head of Nursing as appropriate.
- Maintain and clean equipment after use.
- Maintain environment, including stock rotation and stock control.
- Maintain general tidiness and cleanliness of environment.
- Stock taking of vaccines and reporting to lead nurse for ordering.
- Use of clinical administration systems such as System1
- Accurate documentation of patient care and recorded in a timely fashion.
- A duty to inform the lead nurse or the Head of Nursing of potential problems or issues arising within the day-to-day duties.
- Attend meetings when required.
- Any other delegated duties as appropriate to the post.
- Awareness of national standards of infection control and cleanliness and regulatory / contractual / professional requirements, and good practice guidelines
- Responsible for the correct and safe management of the specimen’s process, including collection, labelling, handling, use of correct and clean containers, storage, and transport arrangements.
- Management and maintenance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the practice including provision, ordering, availability, and ongoing correct usage by staff
- Responsible for hand hygiene across the practice
- Ownership of infection control and clinically based patient care protocols, and implementation of those protocols.
- Monitoring practice facilities and equipment in relation to infection control, ensuring that provision of hand cleansing facilities, wipes etc are sufficient to ensure a good clinical working environment. Lack of facilities to be escalated as appropriate.
- Safe management of sharps procedures including training, use, storage, and disposal
- Using appropriate infection control procedures, maintaining work areas in a tidy, clean, and sterile, and safe way, free from hazards. Initiation of remedial / corrective action where needed or escalation to responsible management.
- Actively identifying, reporting, and correction of health and safety hazards and infection hazards immediately when recognised
- Waste management including collection, handling, segregation, container management, storage, and collection.
- Spillage control procedures, management, and training
- Decontamination control procedures, management and training, and equipment maintenance
- Maintenance of sterile environments
- Demonstrate due regard for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- ·Participation in an annual individual performance review, including taking responsibility for maintaining a record of own personal and/or professional development.
- Taking responsibility for own development, learning and performance and demonstrating skills and activities to others who are undertaking similar work.

Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (Nursing and Midwifery Council)
- Has evidence of working at the relevant level of practice as described in the Primary Care and General Practice Nursing Career and Core Capabilities Framework
- Has attended and completed the 2 day fundamentals of vaccine administration course.
