Factory Production Operative / CNC Manufacturing Operative
Stairplan Ltd – Telford, Shropshire
Pay: £14–£18 per hour depending on ability and experience, with up to approximately £20 per hour for a fully skilled CNC/production operator
Hours: 42.5 hours per week
Monday to Friday: 8:30am–5:30pm

Stairplan Ltd is looking for practical, reliable people to join our staircase manufacturing team in Telford.
We manufacture bespoke staircases using modern CNC machinery and production methods. Although we work with timber, this is not traditional woodworking in the old-fashioned sense. Modern staircase manufacturing is now much closer to an engineering and CNC production environment, where accuracy, organisation and following the correct process are extremely important.
Previous woodworking experience is not essential.
We are more interested in finding the right type of person: someone who is practical, willing to learn, able to understand drawings and dimensions, and capable of making their own notes so they can learn and repeat the correct manufacturing processes.
We want people who take pride in their work and get satisfaction from producing something properly.
The work
Depending on your skills and experience, the role may involve:
- Material preparation and cutting
- CNC machining
- Manufacturing staircase components
- Newel posts, handrails and balustrade components
- Staircase assembly
- Sanding and finishing preparation
- Packing and preparing products for dispatch
- Loading completed orders
- Maintaining an organised and tidy workstation
What we are looking for
You should:
- Be practical and comfortable working in a manufacturing environment
- Be able to understand instructions, measurements and dimensions
- Be willing and able to learn modern CNC and manufacturing processes
- Be capable of writing and following your own notes
- Take responsibility for the quality of your own work
- Notice problems and raise them rather than simply passing them on
- Keep your workstation and materials organised
- Be reliable and willing to work as part of a team
- Take pride in producing a good-quality finished product
Experience with CNC machinery, engineering, manufacturing or woodworking would be useful, but attitude, ability and willingness to learn are more important to us than having worked in the staircase industry before.
We would ideally like applicants who live in Telford or within approximately 20 miles of our factory.
