About the Role
Fixed-term’ appointment to cover Maternity leave. Woodlands Care Home is looking for a caring, reliable, and enthusiastic Cook to join our friendly team. You will be responsible for preparing nutritious, home-cooked meals that meet the dietary needs and preferences of our residents while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and hygiene.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook, and serve nutritious meals, snacks, and desserts for residents.
- Cater for special dietary requirements, allergies, and modified texture diets.
- Plan menus in line with nutritional guidelines and resident preferences.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, food hygiene, and kitchen safety.
- Monitor food stock, rotate supplies, and assist with ordering.
- Ensure compliance with Food Hygiene Regulations and Health & Safety procedures.
- Work within allocated budgets while minimising food waste.
- Maintain accurate food temperature and cleaning records.
- Work closely with the care team to provide an excellent dining experience for residents.
About You
- Previous experience as a Cook, preferably within a care home, healthcare, or catering environment.
- Knowledge of food hygiene and food safety regulations.
- Understanding of special diets and allergens is desirable.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable, organised, and passionate about providing quality meals.
- Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2) preferred or willingness to obtain.
