Maintenance Engineer & Facilities Coordinator
Location: Alfreton, Derbyshire
Hours: Full-Time, Permanent | 39 hours per week | Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm
The Opportunity
We are seeking a proactive and hands-on Maintenance Engineer & Facilities Coordinator to support the safe, efficient and reliable operation of our manufacturing facility in Alfreton.
This varied role combines maintenance engineering with facilities management responsibilities, ensuring equipment reliability, site compliance and a safe working environment while supporting continuous improvement across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance on manufacturing equipment.
- Diagnose and repair machinery faults to minimise downtime.
- Coordinate building maintenance, repairs and site services.
- Manage external contractors and ensure safe working practices.
- Maintain statutory compliance, maintenance records and inspection schedules.
- Support machinery installations, factory improvements and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Oversee site security systems, including fire alarms, CCTV and access control.
About You
Essential:
- NVQ Level 3 in Engineering Maintenance or equivalent.
- Maintenance engineering experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of PUWER, COSHH, LOLER and other relevant legislation.
- Experience managing contractors and maintenance documentation.
- Ability to work independently and prioritise workload effectively.
Desirable:
- Facilities Management qualification.
- Experience with ISO 9001, TPM or Lean Manufacturing.
- Project management or continuous improvement experience.
