The job holder is responsible for project work brought into the business by others and/or by the job holder themselves through direct contact with our customers.
The job holder is responsible for all project matters across the whole project cycle ensuring all necessary due diligence is undertaken and that the correct equipment and order of systems is specified using accurate costings built up using a Bill of Materials form and labour cost estimates which are to be saved within the customer file on the server, and to ensure a minimum margin for profit is maintained.
The role requires the job holder to be client facing and to maintain a good dialogue with our customers throughout the project cycle by telephone, e mail or customer visits to attend client meetings with their chosen representatives. Minutes should be kept for all telecon/site meetings and saved within the relevant customer file.
The role requires that accurate design drawings are produced and filed as per the company’s quality procedures and policies.
It is important for the job holder to liaise regularly with the Sales Director and relevant stakeholders to ensure the project is specified and delivered in a timeous manner and that and a good level of profit is maintained by accurate costing and labour estimation including and other staff costs to deliver the project.
Key Tasks
1. To be courteous to our customers and to establish their expected timelines and where possible budgetary restrictions so that we understand their requirements at the enquiry stage and through the project delivery.
2. To upload all customer contact details and project description requirements onto the CRM system so that the enquiry is logged, and other stakeholders can review it.
3. To develop a work scope when one is not made available by the customer, and to follow a work scope when one is provided and to challenge this scope of supply if merited and guide the customer along a different route.
4. To provide a timeous accurate project cost estimate which is then adjudicated by others as per the company quality procedures before submission.
5. To ensure that any equipment selected and offered is fit for the purpose it is intended and is good value for our customer and our business requirements.
6. To carry out site visits when necessary to collect accurate project information to allow a design or proposal to be agreed and forwarded.
7. To provide accurate Drawings as individual project needs require in a timeous manner.
8. To ensure whenever possible and by working closely by individual stakeholders, that any project work undertaken is delivered using the correct scope of supply and to identify any opportunities for additional work or charges throughout the project delivery cycle.
9. To ensure any design or advice offered to our customers is to a good Engineering standard of work and is accurate in its content.
10. To work closely with the Project Engineer and relevant stake holders to ensure the workload is being prioritised and delivered within agreed timescales.

1. Timeous presentation of estimates and quotations within agreed timescales.
2. Quality of cost estimates against actual project cost.
3. Interaction with all business departments.
4. Teamwork.
5. Professionalism and integrity and good self-presentation to our customer.
6. Maintaining a good level of CPD by attending training provided researching and self-learning as required, or seeking training from 3rd party stakeholders, regardless of the chosen location.
Key Skills
1. A Mechanical Engineering NVQ/SVQ Level 3 as a minimum
2. Accuracy.
3. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
4. A knowledge of pumps and associated controls, training will be given.
5. An ability to assess and understand equipment design and its limitations and the suitability for the process requirement.
6. CAD drawings to an accurate standard.
7. Measuring and maintaining accurate project costings for larger projects, including any variations, and which require regular valuations.
8. Present a good level of professional integrity.
9. Good time management so that agreed timelines are met or exceeded.
10. Production of O&M manuals and supporting information.
