Global Cargo Services is looking for a reliable and hardworking Porter to join its growing transport team in Colnbrook. This is a temp-to-permanent opportunity offering stable weekday hours, excellent long-term prospects, and the chance to work on delivery and installation projects across the UK.
The Role
As a Porter, you'll work alongside experienced drivers and installation teams to deliver goods to customers' homes and businesses. You'll play a key role in ensuring deliveries are completed safely, efficiently, and with excellent customer service.
This is a hands-on role that involves manual handling, heavy lifting, assembling products, and supporting installations at customer sites.
Day-to-day duties include:
- Assisting drivers with deliveries and collections across the UK.
- Safely loading and unloading goods from vehicles.
- Delivering products into customers' homes, offices, and commercial premises.
- Assisting with the assembly and installation of furniture, equipment, and other products.
- Removing packaging and ensuring customer premises are left clean and tidy after installations.
- Handling goods carefully to prevent damage during transportation and delivery.
- Carrying items safely using correct manual handling techniques.
- Supporting the driver with delivery paperwork and route schedules where required.
- Providing excellent customer service and maintaining a professional attitude at all times.
- Occasionally staying away overnight when operational requirements require.
Requirements
- Previous experience in removals, furniture delivery, warehouse work, logistics, or installation is desirable but not essential.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Physically fit and capable of heavy lifting and manual handling.
- Reliable, punctual, and flexible.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Valid DBS check (essential).
