Job Description
We are seeking a talented and organised Dance and Singing Teacher to join our team, with added responsibility for managing our community theatre provision that operates under our external let programme This role will be fulfilled from 2:30-8:30pm Mon-Fri
This unique role combines teaching a range of dance styles (Theatre, Jazz, Tap, Ballet) and group singing with coordinating the use of our school venue for Star Theatre Academy’s own extended programming – including workshops, outreach projects, rehearsals, and community initiatives.
You will be instrumental in delivering inspiring performing arts training while ensuring the smooth running and scheduling of our external-led, internal-use activities within the space.
Key Responsibilities – Teaching
- Deliver fun, structured, and progressive dance and singing classes for ages 4–18.
- Teach a range of dance styles including Theatre, Jazz, Tap, and Ballet.
- Provide vocal training suitable for both group and solo performers.
- Support students’ personal and artistic development through engaging, creative teaching.
- Prepare students for performances, showcases, and community events.
Key Responsibilities – Community Provision Coordination
- Oversee the scheduling and coordination of all Star Theatre Academy activities taking place in the venue under the external let model.
- Manage logistics and transitions between after-school classes, weekend theatre school, and community projects.
- Liaise with staff and leadership to ensure all programming runs smoothly and efficiently.
- Support the planning and delivery of community-led events, workshops, and outreach.
- Maintain an organised and welcoming environment across all uses of the space.
Requirements
- Strong teaching ability in both dance and singing, with experience across a range of ages.
- Excellent organisational and coordination skills.
- Experience working with children and young people (ages 4–18).
- A proactive, adaptable, and positive approach to teaching and management.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
- First Aid qualification (or willingness to obtain).
Desirable
- Experience in coordinating timetables, staff, or community events.
- Choreographic or musical direction experience.
- Familiarity with safeguarding, child protection, and health & safety procedures.
- Qualifications in dance, music, or performing arts education.
