WCB is seeking experienced Support Workers to join our dedicated team, providing vital support to children and young people experiencing crisis.
This is a highly rewarding role in which you will support young people affected by trauma, emotional distress, and behavioural challenges. You will help create a safe, stable, and supportive environment that empowers them to build confidence and move forward.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on support to children and young people in crisis
- Safeguard and promote the wellbeing of every young person in your care
- Respond calmly and effectively to challenging situations and behaviours
- Build positive, consistent, and trusting relationships
- Support daily routines, education, independence, and essential life skills
- Maintain clear and accurate records
- Contribute to care plans, risk assessments, and progress reviews
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and external professionals
- Assist with everyday household tasks, including cooking and cleaning
Essential Requirements
- A minimum of 12 months’ experience supporting children or young people with challenging behaviours
- A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection
- A calm, resilient, and compassionate approach
- The ability to remain professional and effective under pressure
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Flexibility to work a range of shifts, including sleep-ins and waking nights
- An Enhanced DBS certificate, or willingness to obtain one
- The ability to provide a five-year employment history and references
- Willingness to complete all required pre-employment training
