Senior Housing Options Officer
North Tyneside Council is offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated individual to join the Housing Need Team. We are currently looking to recruit a Senior Housing Options Officer who will play a key role in delivering a high-quality Housing Options service, supporting customers with their housing needs and ensuring they receive excellent advice and assistance.
The role involves providing procedural support to the Housing Options team, acting as an initial point of contact for colleagues on system processes, customer enquiries and the housing register. You will be responsible for managing and responding to a range of enquiries, correspondence, appeals and complaints, completing comprehensive reviews of housing applications, and supporting the continuous improvement of the service through quality assurance, data analysis and performance monitoring.
The role requires excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with customers, colleagues and partner agencies. You will work with customers who may be vulnerable or experiencing complex housing issues, ensuring that decisions are made fairly, consistently and in accordance with housing legislation, policy and the Council's procedures.
The successful candidate
The successful candidate will have experience of working within a Housing Options, Allocations or Homelessness service, together with a good understanding of the relevant legislation, statutory guidance and best practice. You will be confident in making sound decisions, managing competing priorities and resolving complex enquiries, appeals and complaints within agreed timescales.
You will be an effective communicator with excellent organisational and problem-solving skills, able to provide advice and support to colleagues while maintaining a strong focus on customer service and continuous improvement. Experience of analysing information, producing high-quality written correspondence and working collaboratively with internal and external partners will be essential.
