HGV Mechanic
Location: Hatfield
Salary: Up to £57650 - £80000
Job Overview
We are currently seeking an experienced HGV Mechanic to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled individual looking for a well-paid position with flexibility to work either day or night shifts. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing a fleet of heavy goods vehicles and trailers to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine servicing, maintenance, and repairs on HGVs and trailers
- Diagnose faults and carry out effective mechanical repairs
- Perform brake testing, relining, and general mechanical work
- Conduct vehicle inspections in line with DVSA standards
- Complete MOT preparation work
- Maintain accurate records of all work completed
- Attend breakdowns when required
- Ensure all work is carried out in line with health and safety regulations
- Work efficiently to minimise vehicle downtime
Requirements
- Proven experience as an HGV Mechanic or Technician
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems (electrical knowledge beneficial)
- Experience with diagnostics equipment is advantageous
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Full UK driving licence (Class 1 desirable but not essential)
- Relevant qualifications (NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent preferred)
