Essential Requirements:
- Proven experience working within the drainage industry, carrying out maintenance, repairs, and fault-finding on commercial drainage systems.
- Strong technical knowledge of drainage infrastructure and the ability to diagnose and resolve issues efficiently.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and make informed decisions on-site.
- Strong customer service and communication skills when working with clients and site contacts.
- Ability to accurately record findings, complete electronic reports, and recommend appropriate remedial works.
- Physically fit and capable of safely carrying out manual handling tasks, including lifting manhole covers using appropriate lifting equipment.
- Flexible approach to working hours, including participation in shift patterns and on-call rotas.

The Role:
As a Drainage Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and improving drainage systems across a variety of commercial and industrial sites. This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical expertise, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
You will work independently and as part of a wider team to ensure jobs are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard.
Drainage Maintenance & Repairs:
- Install, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot commercial drainage systems.
- Investigate blockages, defects, and drainage issues, identifying root causes and recommending appropriate solutions.
- Inspect drainage infrastructure and assess system performance.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive works.
Reporting & Compliance:
- Accurately record work completed, materials used, and site findings using electronic reporting systems such as Verisae and ProNet.
- Produce clear reports detailing defects, recommendations, and required remedial works.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company procedures and health and safety regulations.
Customer Service:
- Represent the company professionally on customer sites.
- Communicate effectively with clients, site managers, and colleagues.
- Deliver a high standard of service while maintaining strong customer relationships.
Teamwork & Safety:
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure jobs are completed efficiently and on schedule.
- Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and specialist drainage equipment.
- Carry out manual handling tasks, including lifting manhole covers using approved lifting equipment.
- Promote and maintain a positive, safe, and supportive working environment.
About You:
- Have previous experience in a drainage, plumbing, or utilities environment.
- Possess strong diagnostic and fault-finding abilities.
- Be reliable, self-motivated, and able to work under pressure.
- Demonstrate a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
- Have excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Be comfortable using mobile devices and electronic job management systems.
- Have basic plumbing knowledge (desirable but not essential).
- Be willing to participate in on-call and out-of-hours work when required.
