Sanctuary Personnel is recruiting for an experienced Family Practitioner to join a children and families service in the area. This is a hybrid locum opportunity supporting children, young people and families through complex transitions and helping to achieve safe, stable and positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Support children and young people through significant transitions, including moving between residential care, foster placements and family homes.
- Provide practical and emotional support to children, young people, birth families and foster carers.
- Deliver interventions that promote stability, resilience, emotional wellbeing and positive family relationships.
- Provide parenting support to strengthen attachment and family relationships.
- Contribute to assessments, care planning, reviews and safeguarding processes.
- Work collaboratively with social workers, foster carers, residential staff, education providers and healthcare professionals.
- Ensure the voice of the child remains central to planning and decision-making.
- Identify and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns and risks.
- Help prevent placement breakdowns and promote long-term placement stability.
- Monitor progress and adapt support plans to meet changing needs.
- Provide practical and emotional support during complex or challenging periods.
Requirements
- Experience working with children in care, fostering, family support or similar children's services.
- Good understanding of safeguarding, child development, attachment and trauma-informed practice.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work effectively within multi-agency teams.
- Relevant qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Family Support or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings or out-of-hours where required.
Desirable
- Experience delivering therapeutic interventions or structured parenting programmes.
- Training in restorative practice, mediation or systemic approaches.
- Knowledge of Children in Care processes and care planning frameworks.
