Dore Village Kids is a new after-school provision, serving children from Dore Primary School. We opened in April and are expanding our places in September. We are therefore looking for another experienced playworker to provide high-quality care and play opportunities for children aged 4-11.
This role is term-time only and the working hours are Monday to Friday, 3.10-5.40pm.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Deliver structured play activities to groups of children.
- Supervise and support children during unstructured play activities.
- Collect children from their classroom and liaise with their class teacher.
- Escort children from Dore Primary School to the club venues (either the Dore Old School or the Dore Methodist Church).
- Use positive behaviour strategies to ensure that children are happy and secure.
- Support children with Special Educational Needs so they can fully access the provision.
- Prepare and serve healthy snacks in accordance with food hygiene regulations.
- Build positive relationships with parents/carers.
- Maintain a safe environment and record any incidents in line with the club’s policies and procedures.
- Assist with tidying up after sessions.
- Report safeguarding/child protection concerns to the Manager.
- Undertake relevant training and attend occasional staff meetings (paid).
- Administer first aid when necessary.

Essential qualities
- Experience of working with 4 to 11 year olds
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work as part of a small team
- Ability to use initiative and plan “in the moment”
- Ability to build strong relationships with children and their carers
- Positive “can do” attitude
- Understanding of the importance of play in children’s development
- Understanding of equal opportunities
- Understanding of how to maintain a safe environment for children
Desirable qualities
- · Level 2/3 childcare qualification or equivalent
- Appropriate child protection training (training will be provided if needed)
- Current 12-hour Paediatric First Aid Certificate (training will be provided if needed)
- Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (training will be provided if needed)
- Experience of working with children with SEND
