We are seeking a skilled and motivated Carpenter to join our construction team at Hunt Carpentry & Construction Ltd. The role involves carrying out a range of carpentry and general building work across projects in Somerset, Bath and Bristol.
The ideal candidate will have solid practical carpentry skills, a good understanding of construction methods and materials, and the ability to work to a high standard while maintaining a strong focus on health and safety. You will work both independently and alongside other skilled tradespeople, contributing to a variety of residential and commercial projects.

Responsibilities
- Carry out first and second-fix carpentry work to a high standard
- Install and construct timber structures, including stud walls, joists, flooring, roofing and frameworks
- Fit doors, door frames, skirting boards, architraves, stair components and other timber fixtures
- Read and interpret drawings, plans and measurements accurately
- Measure, mark, cut, shape and assemble timber and other construction materials
- Use a range of hand tools and power tools safely and effectively
- Assist with general building, maintenance and refurbishment works where required
- Work alongside other trades, including roofers, builders, plumbers and electricians
- Prepare work areas and ensure tools, materials and equipment are organised and readily available
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment throughout each project
- Follow all company and site health and safety procedures
- Complete work efficiently while maintaining a high standard of workmanship
- Support the wider construction team with moving materials and equipment when required
- Travel between sites across Somerset, Bath and Bristol as required
Requirements
- Proven experience working as a Carpenter within the construction industry
- Strong practical knowledge of carpentry techniques, materials and construction methods
- Competent and confident using hand tools and power tools
- Ability to read drawings, take accurate measurements and work from specifications
- Good attention to detail and pride in the quality of finished work
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider construction team
- Reliable, punctual and professional approach to work
- Good understanding of health and safety requirements on construction sites
- Physically fit and able to undertake manual work, including lifting materials up to 20kg and standing for extended periods
- Relevant carpentry qualification or apprenticeship is desirable
- CSCS card or relevant site certification is advantageous
- Valid UK driving licence is essential, with willingness to travel between sites
