Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated SEN Support Assistant to join our vibrant educational team. Duties
- Support children with diverse needs, including those with autism and other disabilities, in both classroom activities and social interactions
- Assist teachers with planning and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each child's requirements
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to facilitate learning and engagement for children with special needs
- Help manage classroom behavior by employing positive reinforcement strategies and maintaining a calm, supportive presence
- Engage in toddler care activities when required, fostering early developmental skills through play and structured routines
- Communicate effectively with children, colleagues, parents, and external specialists to ensure consistent support strategies are applied
- Observe and record children's progress, behaviors, and responses to interventions for ongoing assessment and reporting purposes
Skills
- Proven experience working with individuals with autism and other disabilities in educational or care settings
- Strong teaching skills with the ability to adapt approaches to meet each child's unique needs
- Prior experience working with children across different age groups, including toddlers
- Knowledge of special education practices and strategies for supporting diverse learners
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members, parents, and external professionals
- Patience, empathy, and a proactive attitude towards supporting children's development and well-being
