APL Construction Ltd is a civil engineering company delivering high-quality construction projects. We are looking for an organised and proactive Procurement Assistant to support our Procurement Manager and help ensure our sites are supplied with the right materials, plant, and equipment, on time and at the right cost.
Role Overview
The Procurement Assistant will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day procurement function, acting as the link between project teams, suppliers, and site operations. This is a great opportunity for someone with a background in procurement, ideally within civil engineering or construction, to develop their career within a growing team.
Key Responsibilities
- Liaise with project managers and site teams to understand project requirements and material/plant needs
- Obtain quotes from suppliers for materials, plant, and services
- Place and track orders for construction materials, aggregates, concrete, and other supplies
- Arrange plant and tool hires, and manage off-hires in a timely manner
- Update sites with delivery and collection details for all orders
- Maintain and update the construction management system with orders, costings, and hire end dates
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers and subcontractors
- Support the Procurement Manager with general administrative and procurement duties as required
- Help identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements
Requirements
- Experience in business procurement is essential, ideally gained within a civil engineering or construction environment
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
- Confident communicator, comfortable liaising with site teams, project managers, and suppliers
- Ability to manage multiple orders and priorities simultaneously
- Good IT skills, including experience with procurement or construction management systems (or willingness to learn)
- Proactive, team-oriented approach with a solutions-focused mindset

Pay: £30,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
