We are seeking a friendly, energetic Catering Assistant to be the face of our service—delivering excellent customer care with a smile while assisting with the preparation of fresh, sustainable, and high-quality meals for students and staff.
Role Overview
- Job Title: Catering Assistant

- Hourly Rate: £12.71 per hour
- Hours: 20 hours per week (No late nights, Monday to Friday only—no weekends!)
- Schedule: 38 weeks per year (Term-time only, perfect for work-life balance)
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Service: Serve food with a smile and operate tills (full training provided) to create a fantastic dining experience.
- Culinary Support: Assist chefs with meal preparation and help bring delicious menus to life.
- Kitchen Maintenance: Maintain a clean, organised, and sparkling kitchen environment.
- Safety & Hygiene: Strictly adhere to all Food Hygiene and Health & Safety policies.
The Ideal Candidate
- Personality: Friendly, versatile, and thriving in a fast-paced environment.
- Skills: Exceptional communication and customer service skills.
- Experience: Previous catering or food service experience is a bonus, but not essential.
- Knowledge: A basic understanding of Health & Safety. A Food Hygiene Level 2 certificate is a plus, but Stir will provide training for the right candidate.
- Requirement: Must share a commitment to safeguarding children; an enhanced DBS disclosure is mandatory.
