Salary: from £24,187.50 pa (Term Time ) to £29,250.00 ( Full Year)
Hours: 28-32.5 hours | Permanent |Term Time / No Weekends | Breakfast Club hours: 7.45am-9am | After-School hours : 2.45pm – 6pm | Admin Hours 5.5 – 10 hrs/week (service dependent)

We're looking for an experienced childcare leader to join us as an After School Care Manager, taking responsibility for the leadership, quality and day-to-day management of one of our Out of School Care services.

About the Role
As After School Care Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the daily operation of your service.
You'll lead by example, ensuring high-quality childcare, excellent regulatory compliance and a positive team culture where staff feel supported, motivated and empowered to deliver outstanding experiences for children.
Working alongside your Depute Manager and central management team, you will drive continuous improvement while maintaining the welcoming, child-centred environment that MACS is known for.
Your Responsibilities
Leadership & Service Management
- Lead, motivate and develop a high-performing childcare team.
- Create a positive, inclusive and supportive workplace culture.
- Supervise, coach and mentor colleagues through regular support and performance conversations.
- Lead recruitment, induction and staff development within your service.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with Care Inspectorate requirements, SSSC standards and MACS policies.
- Maintain the highest standards of safeguarding, health and safety and risk management.
- Monitor quality through self-evaluation, reflective practice and continuous improvement.
Children & Families
- Foster positive, professional relationships with children, parents, carers and partner agencies.
- Champion children's rights, wellbeing and inclusion in every aspect of service delivery.
- Ensure children receive engaging, child-led experiences that promote confidence, independence and belonging.
Operational Leadership
- Manage the day-to-day operation of the service, including staffing, administration and planning.
- Oversee attendance, documentation and operational processes.
- Work collaboratively with senior leaders to support organisational priorities and service development.
What We're Looking For
We're seeking an experienced childcare professional who combines strong leadership with a genuine commitment to high-quality practice.
You'll have:
- A BA in Childhood Practice (or equivalent) or be working towards this qualification. (Essential)
- At least two years' experience within childcare.
- Previous leadership or management experience within an early years or school-age childcare setting.
- Eligibility for SSSC registration as a Lead Practitioner.
- Excellent organisational, communication and people management skills.
- Confidence using digital systems and supporting organisational change.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach with the ability to lead confidently while supporting and developing others.
