We are seeking a passionate and energetic Activities Co-ordinator to enrich the lives of our residents through engaging and meaningful activities. In this vital role, you will design, organize, and facilitate a variety of recreational programs tailored to meet the diverse needs of seniors, including those living with dementia and Alzheimer's. Responsibilities
- Plan, develop, and implement a wide range of engaging activities that cater to residents’ interests and abilities, including arts and crafts, music therapy, games, outings, and special events.
- Foster an inclusive environment that encourages participation from all residents, respecting individual preferences and care needs.
- Collaborate with care staff to assess residents’ capabilities and tailor activities accordingly, especially for those with dementia or Alzheimer’s.
- Maintain detailed records of activity participation, resident feedback, and progress to ensure personalized care plans are supported.
- Lead group sessions with enthusiasm and professionalism, ensuring safety protocols are followed at all times.
- Coordinate with external vendors or community organizations to enhance activity offerings and create new opportunities for social engagement.
- Promote positive interactions among residents by encouraging socialization and building a lively community spirit.
Skills
- Proven experience in assisted living or nursing home environments ideal but not required
- Knowledge of dementia care techniques to support cognitive health.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively engage residents with diverse needs and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Creativity in designing stimulating activities that promote mental, emotional, and physical well-being.
- Compassionate caregiving approach combined with patience and empathy for seniors facing various health challenges.
- Ability to organize multiple activities simultaneously while maintaining attention to safety standards.
- Strong interpersonal skills to foster a warm, welcoming atmosphere that encourages resident participation.
